Lt4 Knock Module

When is a good time to install one, i came from a 93Z and had no issues but ive heard many people from 94-97's do replace it with an Lt4 Knock module. Do you install one if your doing headers, no cats and exhuast cut out? i think it prevents the ECM from pulling any timing out, thanks in advance.

Should probably be one of the first things you do if you plan on mod'ing. Header will cause the stock module to read knock and retard it some. Id do it! Pretty cheap mod and takes just a few minutes to install.

The main difference in the LT4 knock module is a different electrical filter to eliminate the noise signal produced in the knock sensor by the Crane Gold roller rockers used in the LT4. That does prevent "false knock" retard, it that's what's causing it. To assume that it helps with exhaust noise, etc is pure speculation.

Put a scanner on the PCM and log it. If you don't have any knock retard, you don't need the LT4 knock module. If you do have knock retard, the LT4 knock module may or may not solve it, depending on what is causing the knock retard.
