Low coolant sensor malfunction?

Is there any history or experience with the coolant sensor in the LT1 V-8 cars going bad or sending a false low coolant signal? I have a 96 Z with about 65K on it. It just started intermittantly showing a low coolant light but the radiator is full and the overflow has plenty of fluid also. The fluid was fresh less than a year ago with red-line wetter. I'm running a 160F stat and electric water pump.

Any help or experience is welcome

Very common. Either unhook it to lose the light or replace it if you want it functional. Your call. Easy to change. Remove bat for access.
