LT4 KM Ques.

My friend and i put a LT4 KM in his car which is a '96 Z28 Convert. (OBDII).
First we disconnect the neg. batt. terminal.

Second, we unbolt the PCM from the car.

Third, we unbolt the two screws at the top where the knock module goes, take out the old one, pop the new one in.

Fourth, we waited 20 mins. before we connected the battery back to reset the computer.

He goes to start his car, and it starts then it starts idling rough and then dies, he starts it again it does the same thing but doesn't die this time, so we let it run for a minute while we wash our hands to take it out on the road. When we get back outside she's running fine, we take it on a test drive and it runs just it should, nice and smooth.

My question is, the rough idling normal or what? Because i want to add the LT4 knock module to my car but don't want to mess anything up. Any help is appreciated.

Have him put the old LT1 KM back in and see if the problem goes away. if it does then maybe the KM is bad. If it doesnt then you have another issue.

I am gladd to hear the the car appears to be better!

Not to be too cynical.
But just because a problem goes away, doesn’t mean that the car wont brake down later because of it. You might still want to look over the car thoroughly. IMOP

Good Luck

I have one. But i cant say that it made much difference. Unless you have a noisey valve train (i.e. Roller rockers & descent lift) it probably wont do you much good!

But then again thats just my opinion. Good Luck.
