Talking Lt4 intake

I just picked up an LT4 intake yesterday Now I'm wondering What would ideally be the best heads to run, GM LT4 heads or would after market be better. Dose anyone know of a great place around south Bend Indiana to have porting done or will Have to have it shipped out?

What are your goals for the engine?

Basing your head selection on the intake manifold is sort of going about it backwards. The LT4 intake is no different than the LT1 execept for some extra metal at the top of the runners to allow it to be opened up to match the taller ports on the LT4 heads.

I would look into the AFR heads, they have 2 versions, one of them might line up well with the LT4 intake. For cost effectiveness, I would stay away from new OEM LT4 heads. I think you can get better heads for less money in the aftermarket.

He could get better heads for far less money by selling that intake and just having what he alread has reworked.

Like Fred said the ports of the LT4 intake are the same as the LT1. Not what you expected??? Been said a LOT of times, people just don't want to hear it.

What is an "lT4 383 stroker" in your view, and what advantages does it have over an "LT1 383 stroker"? What kind of HP are you looking for?

Yay SBI I'm from there ha ha but i can tell you that there isn'tmuch for speed shops here. You might try having them shipped out but i agree with the guys above you should go aftermarket its cheaper to get a better head, you pay a little more for gmpp name.

At this point, only one person has recommended aftermarket heads - I know I haven't. If his HP requirements are reasonable, his LT1 heads will be fine. If he's looking for really big numbers, its a different story. But we don't know what he looking for, other than to resue a manifold he apparently feels he got a good deal on.

Ok, first thing I did get a good deal on an Part# 12550631 GM LT4 Intake Manifold $235 shipped. Second, thing would be the LT4 383 stroker is a 383 4 bolt main short block with a LT4 top end. Third, I was looking for about 450 hp. Fourth, I do not want to use the engine that is in the car it is a 96 SS and don't want to blow up the number match just in case the value grows. So the question comes down to this who makes the best LT4 head on the market or should Have foyd elliot port out a new set of gm LT4 heads

Sounds like you want a bench racer. Injuneer and I the only ones who have made good posts in this thread are more into actually fast cars.

This post has me heavily confused. If I were to aim for 450hp (whp assuming)

Heads and cam package, ported intake all bolt on's.
