LT4 hot cam question

Ok I did a seach and only got two hits (same resuts when I searched a while back). Right now I have basic bolt ons, tune, gears, magnaflow, fuel pump, ect. This winter I am on a tight budget because I am getting married in early July. I am looking into the LT4 kit (not the greatest but I can still use stock injectors and converter). Along with it I was going to throw in some pacesetter LT's (or maybe some used hookers) and their OR y-pipe, a 58MM TB and at the very least match port the heads and intake but I might do some light porting myself and have Mad Z re-tune it. I have thought about going ture duals and going with some dynomax bullets but I live around a lot of old people and noise is a factor. Borla XR-1's or whatever are out of the question but I know with true duals Ill pick up some flow, just wonder if its worth it.

I am also going to have a 150 NX wet shot and its an A4 car. I have heard of a few people with all above and light porting making near 380 on the motor with tuning but it was dyno tuning (no OBD-II shops around but plan on a trip to speed inc in the future). I have no clue what it would do on the spray
The tranny only has like 8k miles on it but on the spray I fear for it. I know of a few tranny guys that could strengthen it up unless you guys think it would be ok.
Maybe 360rwhp N/A 480 150 shot.... (please don't laugh I am bad with mods and numbers along with powertrain loss haha)
I heard the stock A4 wont handle much more then 400rwhp...
Would I still have injector left on the 150 shot with that?

Re: LT4 hot cam question

Well first off, my A4 is handling a little over 400 now, and it's still holdin up arrite. For the injector problem, I'd suggest to be on the safe side, you pick up a set of 32lbs injectors. RaceTronix makes some real good ones and a decent price! I have a bunch of the same mods you do, minus the nitro. So I'll think you'd be in good shape. I'd worrie about the rear end before worring about the trans for now.

No need for the large TB with the hotcam, I also think the 24# injectors are ok, the stock cat back with a cutout will handle it too. For supporting mods I'd get the long tube headers and a stall, 2800 at least.

Re: LT4 hot cam question

Is a stall one of those mandatory parts? I know it is for larger cams. I don't plan on mounting sticky tires till I get a 12 bolt. At the very least there is a local shop that would clean and flow match my injectors pretty cheap.
I know the tranny would handle it N/A and I know a little over 400, but with closer to 480ish... hmmm Ill have to ask in the tranny section.

I'd just have your heads professionally done. A 58mm tb is close to $300 and it isn't necessary for what you are doing. I would put that money towards a port job. Lloyd is very cheap. I personally would only want to do the heads once, so get something you'll be happy with the first time.

I just noticed Ai has some very cheap heads and cam packages starting at 1,100.

Re: LT4 hot cam question

How much would it cost me? I know a local guy that is well known around here and have thought about that but want to ask around on cost first.

Id love a Ai or LE2 kit but I am moving out and getting married next summer lol.

Ai's package is 1100 for heads and cam. The only thing you would need is a hotcam, plus you would be getting better parts. Ai doesn't half *** anything.

Re: LT4 hot cam question

Ditch the TB and get a converter stock TB should be good for over 400 rwhp. You won't like the stock converter with any cam. I drove mine like that for a couple months every day. You will also need to retune the computer, mine ran like crap without it.

Re: LT4 hot cam question

Well I just found out I am going to get to put $200 a month minimum away from now till Feburary for the car (will most likley be closer to 400). So at least $1,200 to go towards headers, converter, Mad Z re-tune. Cam kit is my only christmas present or that money will go to a heads and cam kit who knows. They say you need piston relief/dish volumes of 5-16cc. Is that stock???
