Can low tranny fluid level affect motor performance?

I have had a problem with my car going crazy on me lately like when I first drive my car for teh day it will cut out and act like its going to die and then rebound and come back alive and it will do this several times before it will eventually stop. I also have had a problem with a very bad vibration in Overdrive when I give it a little gas. I checked the fluid level and it wasnt even showing on the dipstick so I put a whole court in it and it seems alot better. My question is this. I was running about .5 seconds slower in the 1/8 mile this last time I went to the track and I couldnt figure out where the heck the power was going to. Could me being a court low on tranny fluid have affected my times that much? Thanks, Dustin.

The transmission is not going to cause your engine to cut out or run rough, but it can be hard at times (depending on the problem) to tell if there is a problem with the engine or transmission.
IMO, your description is more a problem with the engine running rough.
