Lt4 Hot Cam

I have a 94 camaro z28. the car is has 4:11 gears, headers, larger throttle body and k&n air filter package. I wanted to buy a cam for it - How is the lt4 cam - does it have a really loud louping sound to it. - would it fit my application also how much horepower does it add. - MIKE

Well, it is a really good beginner cam. It sounded pretty good through my brother's Hooker Longtubes, offroad ypipe and a cutout.
yes, it would fit your application.
It added about 80rwhp, but that was also with heads and an electric H20 pump.

But with those gears/M6, you might consider going a little bigger. I am sure down the road you will have wished you went a little bigger.
Maybe the CC305 or XE 224/230

With your mods, most guys are making about 325-335 rwhp with the Hotcam. It has a decent lope from what I've heard. Enough to know it's not stock.

Other cams to look at would be the CC502(XE218/224), the CC305(220/230) and the CC503 (XE224/230) On stock heads, these cams typically put out about 10-15 hp more than the Hotcam.

Guys makes great times with the Hotcam too, so it's up to you.

The hotcam is a great balance of power and streetability - my mpg didn't suffer at all, and the idle was smooth as butter. (Make sure to get the PCM reprogrammed).

Plus, the kit comes with roller rockers, springs, locks, retainers, cheap. Gave my LT1 all the low end torque of our famed LT1s, but after 3krpm, it felt like a badass LS1. Power was still building as I was passing 6k rpms.

Good cam.

It doesnt lope really loud like some of the really large cams out there but it has a nice lope to it, you can obviously tell it's not a stock cam when you hear it. I've got SLP 94/95 style headers/ypipe, ORP, & Borla. I'm very happy with the power I've gotten out of it on completely stock heads as well.
