LT4 Help

Need help or helpfull advice. I have a chance to get a "LT4" head and intake package. But there are two things that are not adding up. One the whole intake is powdercoated red even the fins and two the heads I couldnt make a whole lot of heads and tales of the casting numbers. Actually one more the end of the heads has stamped in it STAGE 2... Does anyone Know of a company who stamps stage two in their heads, is it possible its a regular intake just powdercoated... Buts whats up with the STAGE 2 on the heads.. Any help would be great.

IMO at your level, your money would be much better spent having LE or AI go over your AFRs. They have a lot of potential, but leave a bit on the table in their stock form.

Pretty important piece of into missing there - that makes a lot more sense! I was wondering why you were looking at LT4 parts with a procharged AFR headed 383...

lt4 is a good package with moderate gains, how much are you getting it for and we'll be able to help you determine the cost/benefit ratio with possible risk since you're questioning the validity of the parts

post some p/n's

the guy was asking for 1000 for the heads intake rockers and push rods.. probably will use new push rods. But depending on what i hear back from a machine shop of condition of setup. What is just throwing me is the fact that the whole intake is red instead of the fins being cleaned off.

It would seem that your best option regarding the authenticity of the parts is to rely on the casting numbers.

An LT4 manifold should carry a casting number of 12550631

LT4 heads should be either 12555690 or 12555332

If you can't find those numbers you are rolling the dice to pay LT4 prices for the parts. The stamping on the heads could have been put on by anyone just as the work that has been done could be good or bad. There are people out there who own stamp sets that have no business grinding on heads.
