LT4 & ED timing chains

Are the ED timing chains and the LT4 chain any different than a factory LT1, and importanly any stronger, sense I dont want to switch to the later style these chains might be my only options and the LT4 is about 20$ more than the chain in the ED set.

Re: LT4 & ED timing chains

I guess that knocks out the extreme duty chain cus it's a double roller. So is the LT4 a double roller though. Also anybody use the cloyes C509 chain?

Re: LT4 & ED timing chains

LT4 ex chain is a ROLLER chain. A single roller.

And it also costs 4x more then a good cloyes/rollmaster double roller. I use a double roller comparable to that c509. It cost me $60, will last forever, is not a part I ever worry about breaking, and will keep accurate time for much less then the overprived lt4 chain.

Do you have a part number for the one you run?

Re: LT4 & ED timing chains

On the summit web site it said it was a double roller, I'v never seen one so I dont know, a lot of people seem to be ok with those, and I dont run my car hard but the chain is about 60$ and that cloyes C509 I can get for bout 25$, but is it any better than a regular stock replacment chain?

Re: LT4 & ED timing chains

I think my plan is to get the extreme duty chain and crank gear, and buy a stock replacement 92-94 cam gear. I shouldnt have any trouble with that combo right?

Re: LT4 & ED timing chains

You cannot mix components.....
The LT4 is a roller & will not work with the stock LT1 style gears.

I believe to use the double roller chains you need to use an electric waterpump?
