Well, their page here says $3473.95, and that you'll get a $325 refund issued upon core return.

Yes I know their page says it has a core charge, but I called them and they said that their web page is incorrect. There is no core charge.

Cool! Good that you checked it out. I just wanted to be sure, since you said you'd sell your LT1 motor, which means you wouldn't have a core to exchange.

Is the LT4 shortblock special or something? Does it have forged parts or something? I guess I could look it up. Dave, have you taken that thing to the track? Looks like a monster torquey combo there.

The lt4 shortblock is nothing exotic, but it does have the 4 bolt mains, lt4 roller timing chain set, better piston rings, undercut and rolled crankshaft, and stronger main caps http://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm.

I haven't done very well yet, since I've only run it with my old, hard street tires, compounded with the fact that the local track doesn't do any prep. I'm launching just above idle and spinning like crazy going into second gear at the moment. The car certainly feels strong.

Next season, I'll be running DRs. And if/when the stock 3.42 10-bolt breaks, I'll be going with a 12-bolt / Dana 60 with 4.10s... it should be fun then! I'm expecting mid-12's with the 3.42's and low 12's with the 4.10's.

Re: Lt4 dyno #'s

Interesting, thanks for posting the link. I just got the news my 94's LT1 is pretty messed up (oil pump failure). So, this might me a good option for me as well. I have a few questions though... Would my ODBI Computer work with this?
What all would need to be changed for this to work in a 94? I'm guessing my stock Opti would not work and the oilpan would have to be swapped.
What about the LT4 intake, those are VERY pricey now?

Thanks!

Dave, if you can get that thing to hook, I think you would surprise yourself.
