lt4 conversion questions

I'm looking at converting my lt1 with 100,000 miles on it to an lt4 with the hot cam. Summit racing has the lt4 conversion kit on there site so I was thinking about getting that kit. Is there anything else I would need for the conversion and also then conversion would be the same basically as a rebuild right? Just some questions I needed answered. Thanks

No, it wouldn't be the same as a rebuild... you're not touching the "bottom end" - pistons, rings, rods, crank, bearings, etc. It would be the same as "rebuilding" the heads... valve job, new springs, rockers, guides, etc.

You will need a computer reprogram, an upgraded exhaust system, and some people go to a 52mm TB.

LT's are fine.

Suggestion - Include all the info about your car in the original post, so people can give you the correct info without guessing. Most people include basic info, including major mods, in a "signature" field.

I also did the LT4 conversion and put 30 lbs injectors in. LT4 production cars came with 28 lbs.

I think its a waste of money. Port the stock heads and do the hot cam if you wish, I would personally do a different cam. people have good luck with cc308 i believe is the grind number

They said with my mods and a lt4 upgrad I would be pushing about 450 horses. Is that about right? Or what should I expect?

That is a slightly inflated (wishfull) Flywheel HP rating.

Just wanted to make sure you understood they are talking flywheel and not the rear wheels.

Probably looking at around 370 rwhp depending on your trans. You'll get more to the ground with a M6 then the A4, you said you have 3.42's so I'm guessing M6? Mid 12's I would say in the 1/4.

Actually I have 3.42's for a 2 series carrier. I'm running 12.9 with just the mods I have now on my car so mid 12's seams a lil high to me. Are you sure thats all i'll run? and 375 wrhp? I was hoping more like 400.

Nothing against the LT-4 conversion kit, but I would think your money would be better spent on a 306 and ported heads. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck than the conversion kit imho.
