Lt1edit,tunercat,freescan etc newbie help
Hey guess, I have done a search and been reading.
I wanting something to program and scan my car.
I was looking at gm tech 1 one's on ebay, but figured I could use a laptop to do the same thing.
I just ordered a dell laptop.
1. lt1 edit seems ok, but I thought it was free and you but the cable for 95 dollars, but all the searches I found said it was 550 dollars.
2. TunerCat looks like 69.99 or 99.99. (Does this have a cable or do you still use the cable from AMK(http://www.akmcables.com/mail-in.htm)
3. Freescan so can I just use this on my laptop with with amk cable and check for "codes" on mine car.
4. If I get tunercat or lt1 edit. Will I be able to program my car and my freinds car he has a cam no programing. Kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks guys

Re: Lt1edit,tunercat,freescan etc newbie help
A Tech 1 will only scan codes and do diagnostics.
Tunercat would be best for "killing two birds with one stone". It is $90 for the tuner program and the EE/EEB definition file required for editing lt1s.
With freescan and a cable, you will be able to monitor engine data.
lt1_edit for OBDIs is $200 last time I checked, but it is limited to one car, which is why tunercat would be better in your case.
