Cool LT1 Z28 help

hey... i'm new to the forum and i want to get an early-middle '90s camaro z28... Is there anything i should know about with the model years? are there any to stay away from or are better than others? Also, i am new to camaros; do they usually have any problems with anything specific or is there a "weak link" ? Overall, how reliable are they and how well can they tolerate abuse? Thanks for the help.

The power window motors blow, and the rear end is kind of a weak link if you get a manual and race it with drag radials ... If your launching on street tires, the rears usually can take some abuse. On radials though ... .

uhh trannys are the same 460LE (i think thats the number) for automatics and manual 6 for the other guys. the gear ratios depend on the options you selected, but i think some come with 3.23s and some with 3.73? maybe thats too high. anyways, what specifically do you need to know?

i am in college and this is going to be a daily driver and i am just making sure that these cars are reliable for the most part, and it seems like they are.

of course they are reliable. you'll want to mod the pants off of it too. its a vicious cycle. its like well i got the cam, might as well get the heads ported, well now that im over here maybe i should port my intake, well i suppose now that we are doing air flow we might as well install a supercharger just for $hits

Mine is a daily driver, as long as you take care of them and get one that hasn't had the **** beat out of it you should be ok. The LT1 is a strong motor...btw I'd try to find a 95 + if you can...you get the vented opti (ignition system) which is more more reliable then the previous model.
