If I had to choose, I would go with the LS1. Why? Hell, they are a damn good engine...not putting down the LT1 of course. I love my car, but if I had the chance to drop a LS1 in it, I would do it in a heartbeat.

With that being said...a LT1 is easier to actually mod...i think. Mainly $$$ issues. You shouldn't underestimate the LT1 by any means. Why yes...listen to this...an LT1 can beat a LS1 with the right mods...WHOA, did I just say that? The only thing I can't stand about LS1 owners(some of them) is the fact that they think they are immortal b/c of this engine. I have a buddy who thinks his car is a gift from God because he has a ls1. So annoying...

But anyways, if it came down to it, I would rather have an LS1 in the end...and I wouldn't be a ***** about having one either.

I don't know. I think LT1 guys have just as much attitude if not more then LS1 guys. The LT1 is a great engine without question but the LS1 is better and that seems to create a sore spot for LT1 guys. I have read countless threads in kill sections of LT1 guys talking smack about LS1's they beat or claimed to beat.

Here is the problem I have with this little rivalry. WE ARE FIGHTING OUR BROTHERS. I would rather argue with import guys then my F-body bretheren any day of the week. Even a good fight with mustang guys is better then fighting with a guy that has a respectable 95 TA.

You are our little brothers. We are your big brothers. Sometimes the little brother grows up bigger and stronger then the big brother and sometimes he doesn't. But we are still brothers.

Peace

I have a very good friend who happens to have a 01 som ss, m6
He comes down all the time and helps me worj on the z . Mind you , I have an lt1.

He is ALWAYS telling me how nice the mods are on my car and how he wants his to pull like mine.

He never tells me anything bad about the lt1, never rips on it, never even offers to run me.

After taking a ride in mine, he called ls1 speed and made an appointment to have a LOT of work done....lol...

We shouldnt be fighting, we should be helping each other.

lt1 w/ heads and cam ....... 380-400rwhp

ls1 w/ heads and cam........420-450rwhp

and right now, you can buy fully ported LS6 heads complete cnc ported that flow 322cfm, no core charge, for $1800 ready to bolt on.

just try and get that with our lt1's.

mod for mod, the ls1 is simply always going to outpower the lt1.......there is no debating that. its a better engine.

as for being easier to work on, they both have strong and weak points, id say its about even.

Man this topic is dumb, an LT1 is prety much a SBC, you can make it fast. I doubt very few us have the budget to build an 8 sec car with EITHER motor. The wheel to wheel TA conv that ran 8.50s at Thunder cost over $220K+ to build. So pick a goal and stick wih it, you can make an LT1 run strong IF you know what your doing. LS1 is a WAY newer motor than the LT1, yea its going to better and na its going to make more power than an LT1, your an idiot if you cant realize this. LS1s start out with 50 moreHP than we do. How ever they may be easier to work on, they are more expensive. I'm not talking about stupid bolt ons, when you get in to the motors LT1s are so much cheaper. My buddy is almost done with 9 sec LS1 and for the amount it cost to build you can do the same or maybe even better with an LT1. Jason Warren, 355 STOCK CRANK running 9.50s on gas. You can LT1 run and build it up right it can spank LS1s. Go to an Event like Southern Shoot out, plenty of people know what they are doing with our cars and they run some damn good number. $4500, runs 13.2's all day. Most of my friends have 6-speed ls1's and they compliment me on my car more than I do theirs. I love my car but like said before if i could have a ls1 id do it in a second. I just dont want to the car payment that goes along with it. Im just gonna wait and buy a 5th gen

i like the looks of the 93-97 camaro more than the 98-02

BUT i like the looks of 98-02 t/a's (ws6) more than i do the 93-97's

ls1's are easier to work on and don't hafta worry about an opti

BUT the lt1 is cheaper to buy and cheaper to mod

i have an ls1 but help friends out with there lt1's and they help me....... we need not fight each other, we have ricers to beat up on if we are feeling low ..... and yes, i also own a 91 tsi awd but its not a ricer, i have rims so i could put wider tires on and possibly get some grip . a corvette guy thats helping me out with it seems to think i should be able to hold my own with an ls1 on a 6psi blower (since i was thinking about doing that with my ws6)
