LT1 in a truck

I have a '95 camaro Z28 with a perfectly good LT1 sitting in it that I'm thinking about transplanting into a '88-'98 Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton two wheel drive truck. Have any of you guys done this? I plan on buying the aftermarket wiring harness but what are some hi's/low's of this install?

Did you wreck you Camaro or something? Either way it has been done quite a few times before. I can't remember the names of anybody that has done it but i'm sure somebody can.

Knowing what year truck would be helpful. If the truck originally had TB injection, you will need a new fuel pump. Also, you'll need electric fans (most of those trucks had belt driven fans and the LT1 has no provision for that). What else?? The PCM will have to go as well. That is most of what I can think of, everything else should bolt up. Gotta love GM for making it easy to swap things.

Fans

Actually some Caprice's came with a mechanical fan with an electric secondary. It came in the B4U Caprices, or one with the VO8 (I believe is the code), or the heavy duty cooling capacity. I would look into that.

Or just run dual electrics off of the pcm.

Yeah, some of the caprice cars had the mechanical fan, but they were offset funny or something to where they are only usable on those cars. I don't remember exactly what. Just run some electric fans and be done with it.

Oh yeah, a good 160 thermostat and a different set of fan parameters in the computer and mine barely nudges past the 160 mark.

Caprices and the Caddy's had electric fans....the Roadmasters had clutch fans.

Except for the Caprice's that came with the V08 option, I believe that is the option #. They came with (1) mechanical and (1) electric. It was the Heavy duty cooling package.
I know this because my car was stock like this, before I changed it to dual electrics. 1996 Caprice.
The 9C1 Caprices came with dual electrics. The actual cop cars.
All the Roadmasters, that I know of, came with the (1) mechanical and (1) electric.
The Caddy's, I believe came with all electrics, atleast all the ones I have seen have had dual electrics.

Yes the mechanical fan is offset a little to the passenger side. There is an extra belt that runs off of the adapter on the front of the crank pulley.

I agree about the 160 stat. Mine runs right above the 160 mark also.
