lt1 timing chain

lt1 timing chain

should there be any slack at all on the timing chain? Mine seems to have a bit of slack, i canactually push it from either side and itw ill move in a little bit, is that bad ? The chain is all the way on the cam and crank sprocket, bad chain? Weird thing is the chain is "new" came with my motor assembled new

yeah, they all have some slack. in a stock chain, it will seem like alot of play. but thats normal.

sweet thanks, also you wouldnt happen to know about those two metal peices that run along each side of the oil pan that go before bolting it, well, i accidently forgot to put those back on after doing all the work of liftin the motor a bit and replacing the oil pan gasket then i just bolted it back up , and theres a lotof bolts down there i was like aww **** :/ .. should i re do it and put them on or would it be even worse if i did that since im sure that helps form the pan so it doesnt "bend" a bit..

yeah, you need them. the oil pan will most certainly leak w/o them. they distribute the load across the surface to better clamp down. sorry
