LT1/T56 general info??

I'm doing a swap as you can see and i'm in the process of trying to find a nice LT1/T56 to swap in.. Basically I want a 1995 LT1 because i want the Pin Drive Opti so i dont have to convert it when i install my HOTCam, and also I want the OBD1 computer, so those two things were only available in the 1995 Fbods.

However i found a couple 94' Corvette LT1's for sale w/ T56's and i was curious if the Vette's were ever sold with the Pin Drive Opti and OBD1 together? If so what year?

Thanks guyz,
Mike

Mike, if the engines you are looking at are true corvette engines, and the trannys are the trannys that came with those engines, then those trannys are not the T56. The vettes came with the ZF 6 speed, which may or may not work with your intended swap.

Just thought I would throw that out there for you.

Hmm, i was unaware of that, thanks for the info.. I'll have to look into that further however i'm not sure if it will make a difference, thats definately something to research.. Well does anybody know about the Corvette LT1's though? Was there a year that they came with OBD1 and a Pin drive Opti? 94 perhaps?

Thanks,
Mike

PS. How different is the ZF 6-speed? Gear ratio's? Are they better, ok, worse? Thankx again!!

I would stick to LT1/t56's out of an F-body if I were you, unless money is not much of an option. I know the ZF6's are a much more expensive trans than the t-56, but they are not really much stronger. You are probably going to pay much more for that package since it is a ZF6 along with paying more for the "Corvette" motor.

BTW, I thought you already picked up your engine/trans, I guess that deal didn't work out?

Well, I would bet that the provision for the torque arm mount is different, and I don't think the shifter is in the same place as an F-body trans either.

Here's a link you might find interesting though.

Also there is some good technical info here

Ya, that deal i had fell through, not very happy about it but oh well i'll find what i want. Theres tons of them for sale i'm just picky about what i'm buying, i'd rather wait and buy what i'm looking for than just buy any one in particular..

So it looks like i'm gonna stick with the Fbody tranny, forget the Corvette tranny..

Thanks guyz,
Mike

I am selling a T56 and a new McCleod Street Twin with a used (resurfaced) aluminum flywheel. The transmission has 30,000 miles on it and works perfectly. It was OEM in my '95 Camaro. A Hurst shifter, the M6 pedal assembly, OEM clutch master cylinder and McCleod adjustable slave cylinder are included. I am asking $2,200 but will ocnsider reasonable offers.
