LT1 swap into 49 ford Help!

I have a friend that just bought a 95 lt1 and 4l60e out of a 95 impala. Can he use a wiring harness from an lt1 in this or will he have to by and after market one. Any place I can find to get as much info on this type of swap?

I used the stock LT1 harness for my conversion in my 84 corvette and sold the motor and harness to someone who installed it in a subrban so the answer is yses you can use the stock harness. I am prety good with wiring so I was able to do all of the wiring my self. A good place to get the harness converted is Jims Performance. He will do it for less then 1/2 the cost of an aftermarket harness. Get a hold of MadZ28 for the tuning and Vats disable, Ion does a great job and my car ran perfect out of the box. Now there are a lot of isues you need to consider
1. Fuel Pump and fuel lines you will need a continous 42 PSI of FP
2. Assys, you wil have to figure out waht assy braket and assys will fit that car. I used the Corvette LT1 stuff because it sits the alt and A/C up on the drivers side opsed to the F-body sytuff low and on the passangers side hit my frame.
3. Radiator, you will need a radiator with a provision for the steam vent.
4. Air cleaner, sounds simple but it is the little things I used a K&N on the end of the MAF sensor.
5. Be sure to keep all of the sensors you wil need them.

You wont need a radiator with a steam vent, you can use a different hose routing setup to eliminate the need for one.

The wiring isnt all that hard if you've got some time. If you'd like some help on it you can email me at Z28ricer@gmail.com , or depending on when it is needed and if you just want a few wire hookup I can modify the harness for you if you'd like.

Thanks for the info guys, I think we're going to check out a march pully system. But with this stock harness any ideas what I can eleminate? I know VATS , EGR, AIR pump, we plan on using the 4l60e. I think we may end up using a vintage air system on it.

I ran air on my 84 but I used a stock LT1 A/C comp and had custom A/C lines made by a local shop. Z28racer is right you can use a T and get around the steam vent in the radiator but it is not a hard job if you are using a radiator w/o plastic tanks just to add the fiting, thats what I did. Does vintage air make a compresor that will work with a LT1 assy package?, if not you can always adapt a LT1 comp and use the vintage air for everything else.
