LT1 RE-Build

My buddy has decided to rebuild his lt1 this winter,His current setup runs 12.10s on motor, but we noticed that #1 cylinder has developed blow by..So with that being said,he wants to build a forged bottom end.I am looking for prices and suggestions for him. This is not a dd,but sees alot of the drag strip.Any and all suggestions are appreciated..He want to go forged just incase he puts a charger on it.

Well he can build high compression for a NA motor or a low compression blower motor, or something in between - but they are two different motors. And, it's all been done and talked about a couple hundred times on here, so start digging.

Matter of fact, some guys that are getting out of these cars are selling some good motors at good prices in the for sale section.

Re: LT1 RE-Build

for what its worth, 5-6 years ago, I found eagle was the best quality/cost/strength. I used there forged crank, Hbeam rods, and SRP forged pistons for my nitrous ready build.

but as stated, he needs to know NOW what he wants to build. a N/A motor, or a boosted motor. you CAN build it with low compression for future boost, but realize it will mean the eng. wont be running efficiently until you do get the s/c set up on there.

driveability/power/gas mileage will all suffer compared to 10.5:1 build.

This is right on, eagle is the best set up for the cost. I figured he was thinking about a s/c or nos set up. Personally I would do a higher compression NA motor, but its all up to what he wants. Advancedinduction.com is the way to go for the heads and cam.
