lt1 optispark
ok so my water pump died and took the optispark with it. im looking to replace it. any sugestion, i was lookin at the summit racing opti and the gm performance opti is there any difference, except the price. summit brand is like $100 cheaper. any suggestions would be a lotta help thanks!
From what I have seen unless you are into above 5800 RPM (stock limiter setting) the original equipment Delphi or old Delco optis are the most cost effective and reliable units.. The off shore optis sell for less but seem to have a higher failure rate, if you don't mind the gamble the option is up to you. For higher RPM a mix of the MSD cap/rotor and the OEM opti is also popular choice. As stated above, 'thepartsladi' on ebay has been the lowest cost seller of OEM optis. Back to your OP.. GM performance probably sells the same unit as the partsladi, not sure what manufacture the Summit unit is made by, I would give them a call to verify if it's OEM or off shore. Then you can make your decision..
