Most recommend thepartsladi on ebay for the opti. I am rolling with a sub 100 dollar one from ebay and it seems to be fine.

all i can say is that you need to go to the parts ladi so you stay with an OEM type of opti, and that you need to start doing some preventative maintenance by doing the weephole mod.

From what I have seen unless you are into above 5800 RPM (stock limiter setting) the original equipment Delphi or old Delco optis are the most cost effective and reliable units.. The off shore optis sell for less but seem to have a higher failure rate, if you don't mind the gamble the option is up to you. For higher RPM a mix of the MSD cap/rotor and the OEM opti is also popular choice. As stated above, 'thepartsladi' on ebay has been the lowest cost seller of OEM optis. Back to your OP.. GM performance probably sells the same unit as the partsladi, not sure what manufacture the Summit unit is made by, I would give them a call to verify if it's OEM or off shore. Then you can make your decision..

Not really a "Computer......." forum topic. Let's move this to "LT1 Based Engine Tech".
