LT1 oil leak

i have oil dripping down the back of my engine. it only seems to do it with the car off. the engine is brand new(1000 miles) i assembled totally myself. it seems to be coming from the back of the intake or the oil pressure sending unit(also new). what could be causing a leak like this? already checked valve covers and head gaskets.

Re: LT1 oil leak

It most likely is the infamous LT1 intake manifold leak.

Re: LT1 oil leak

how do people usually fix this? would a set of rubber seals off of a standard small block chevy make the leak a little harder to break through? or are the seals too thick? any help is greatly appreciated im getting made fun of because my brand new motor leaks!!!

Ive been reading on here about dimpling the block surface or the intake surface does anyone have pics or instructions on how to do this?

Re: LT1 oil leak

What did you use along the ledge of the block to seal it? I used GM silicone, part # 12346141 and have had no leaks whatsoever. I did have a passenger side valve cover leaking also. It ran down the back of the block and onto the catalytic converter.

Re: LT1 oil leak

Your oil pan could also be the culprit. The intake leak is easy to spot. Run your hand behind the intake and look for oil moisture. The oil pan you have to get the car on a lift and look.

Re: LT1 oil leak

i used the silicone that came in the kit with all my felpro gaskets.

im pretty sure it is coming from the intake i can feel a little bit of oil on the block behind the intake manifold.

i have checked both valve covers and they are dry all the way around. same with the oil pressure sending unit.
