Re: LT1 Mods? What to do?

so, talking about headers.

what is the difference in HP between LT's, ST's and stock manifolds??

I notice everyone says "get the LT's", but know one can tell me the difference in performance.

for instance, I have a 94 Z28 M6 with some bolt ons and some tuning, and no cats. I still can not seem to beat my buddies 03 Mach I. Would one set of headers let my spank him, but not the others, or is it only noticable on the DYNO???????

Re: LT1 Mods? What to do?

I am installing Longtubes as we speak. there a ****in pain in the *** to get the stock manifolds out. Took us almost 10 hours just to do that with all the AIR/egr **** and just gettin to some of the bolts. But LT's are not an easy install by any means. Im ready to throw the car away but all i gotta do now is freakin get the header bolts on and tighten and hook up the O2's and im ready. Gotta order some bolts though.

If I would get ride of the Flowmaster, in-less it is a 40 series. Long tubes will help your top end power, cold air intake A.K.A CAI, will help. If you want to do it right, get your heads flowed and take those numbers to a cam designer. Then get the right exhaust set-up, I wish I could recommend something that would give the most, but I’m still in research and develop now in class! J

A lot of people say a CAI is a good thing but I already have the WS6 Ram air system in there.........

I went Arizona Speed and Marine MIDLENGTH headers w/ their Ypipe. They are coated, and in my opinion, the best midlength you can buy. 1 3/4 inch primaries... I saw MAJOR gains with these, esp after my cam. www.thunderracing.com www.tbyrne.com

Watch the parts for sale section and get a moroso or K&N cold air intake. I got mine for $100 and it makes a very noticable seat of the pants improvement. I'm not sure about hp or et #s but you CAN feel the diff.

Re: LT1 Mods? What to do?

If you've already got the ws6 ram air setup than you have no need for a cold air induction........just worry about your exhaust and gears and you will be good to go.

Edit: and if its the ram air setup I'm thinking of then it is one of the best flowing and the straightest shot to the intake that you can have. I would much rather have that setup over a cai, but the ss camaro ram air sucks compared to the straight shot of the ws6's.
