Exclamation LT1/LT4 Valve Covers

Where did you get your dressed up valve covers?

My friend got some very nice LT4 valve covers that clear the alternator, but he said he got them off of eBay. I like to avoid using eBay as much as possible.

Yeah I really liked those too! My friend had those before he got the LT4 pieces he has now... The thing with those was that he had to cut the front of the cover apart over the baffle because it wouldn't clear the alternator.

Canton has a fab'd aluminum high rise cover with the notch for the alternator, and the correct oil fill and PCV vent tube connections.

I've seen posts indicating you can fit the generic SBC center-bolt covers if you grind the alternator housing down a bit.

Oh my goodness me want! Fred you rock.

Now, will that create any issues bolted over my stock valvetrain? I don't see why, but you never know. Low crankcase pressure or something... ?

What do they call those, Franken-cover. Doesn't even make sense for stock.

If you don't like them, don't buy them for your car.... simple as that.

Re: LT1/LT4 Valve Covers

Those covers are beautiful. slopokrodrigez....They are sheetmetal valve covers notched so you don't have to grind the crap outta your alternator, or modify a set of tall covers. You wouldn't even see the notch when the alternator is on.... So i would say it does make sense for those that want a nice tall sheetmetal set of valve covers that don't require modification.

Re: LT1/LT4 Valve Covers

There was a post on here a while back showing how to make almost any rocker cover fit. I used the info and put proforms on my car. Black wrinkle paint finish red bow tie. It took only a wee bit of grinding on the back of the alternater to make it work. No big deal.

I realy like those myself, I was thinking of getting a pair but was concerned about clearance. Im not a big fan of chrome or polished metal. I like the black LT4s and the crinkles the best!

Re: LT1/LT4 Valve Covers

I would like to add the Canton fabricated valve covers, so I could use the taller ARP lock nuts on my 1.6 RRs. However, I have the ASR servo (driver's side) and I don't believe the taller cover will fit under the servo and bracket. Possibly, I could use spacers on the ASR servo bracket, but then there is the cowling directly above the servo.

I may have to say with my stock "chrome plated" valve covers.
