lt1 or ls1 for the mula

if i find a nice lt1 for say 6000 would it be worth the extra money and payments to get a nice ls1 for like 10-12000? I know the ls1 has better ignition and the motor is sick but would the extra money each month and more time paying it off be worth it for someone who doesnt have money pouring out of there pockets?

You could find a pretty nice LT1 car for 6000 in CA, i just bought my 01 ls1 6speed with 62k miles for $3500 with body damage and a salvage title. body damage is fixed and painted and have a total of about 4500 into the car after registration and all the other little things taken car of.

I like the ls1 trans am body style and some of the interior upgrades more than my LT1 but I love the sound and low end torque of my LT1 much more

if i had to choose one or the other it would be the lt1 but its going to be your car so its your decision

yah i havent driven either of them so i cant really tell if its worth the money or not to get one or the other. All i know is ive heard the lt1's sound better but i also know the ls1 are pretty fast stock and they have better ignition systems, also i read that 2001-02 they came with a z06 clutch which is a bonus lol

To be honest with you there is a whole lot more you could end up doing with Ls1. Just heads and cam could almost and in some cases walk away from Lt1 guys like me. I wish I would have done a little more research when I bought mine. But I bought an Lt1 and I am happy with what I got. I have put a lot into building the motor. And am in the Process of building another. The only upside that I see to Lt1 is you can build them a lot cheaper than ls1's. And when you Dominate a Ls1 its more fun to brag. But then again I have had to completely build from bottom to top to do so.

You will honestly have to drive each one to decide your self... I love the sound and torque of the LT1, I also think that the front clip looks a lot more aggressive.. But then there is the LS1 guys that think that LT1 cars look like crap. I love my LT1.. I am how ever bulding an LS motor.. (lq4 actually) Because a well built 408 with a set of nice heads will put down phenominal power.. That's not to say an LT1 can't hang.. There are tons of LT1 cars out running LS1 cars. It is fun showing up an LS1 car in a cammed LT1 car though, that is damn sure!

It's all up to you though. You can ask this question to 100 different people, and you'll get 100 different answers.. Go drive one of each and make up your mind.

i picked up my 94 for 4grand. has a crate motor. full bolt ons and mild cam. car was missing. guy assumed opti. i did msd wires, insulators, ac delco plugs. ran amazing. atleast i thought. 3 mushy injectors lead me to buy ford racing #3OLBS injectors and spring for a tune. because of brian at kaltechs ability to be the man, he discovered my weak fuel pump and bad regulator a few minutes into the tune. its all being wrapped up this week. he didnt get a full power pull and was around 360rwhp@ 5700rpm.it went in with 302rwhp. the car costed me a total of 6300 bucks. buy an ls1 or buy somebody's lt1 with work for less.
