Don't do it, stay with the ls1.

Most people go the other way....

You'll want to change the K member as it's different on LS cars....slong with a whole lot more.

Re: Lt1 into Ls1 hole

You're better off getting a LS motor from a JY and using that than trying to isntall an LT1 in that car.

Re: Lt1 into Ls1 hole

You'd need a k-member, steering rack, steering shaft, return fuel line, an LT1 harness, and a bunch odf other expensive stuff.

With 5.3 truck motors a dime a dozen, why bother?

Re: Lt1 into Ls1 hole

I would do it for shock value. It could only get better if you swapped an old flat tappet SBC motor with Edelcrap parts into it.

6.0? If you had an ls motor in there stay with the ls as for the 5.3, just listen to what she said, bigger is better go 6.0.

Re: Lt1 into Ls1 hole

Be careful, if you have to pass a visual test for emissions and the tech knows the difference between an LS and a LT, and that a 99 should have an LS, they may refuse to test it. Some states you can put in a newer engine in a older car, but not an older engine in a newer car. Just sayin'.

Build the LS, less hassle, more power.

Considering you can get 5.3s for dirt cheap and it's pretty much a direct swap, yes. If you can find a decent 6.0 for a good price then go for it but otherwise a 5.3 will work well enough. They also respond very well to nitrous or boost and you can bore the iron block to a 3.095 bore (5.7L) very easily.

Re: Lt1 into Ls1 hole

If you're going to bore an iron block just grab an LQ4 6.0 out of a truck. They're dirt cheap and are torquey as hell. They have a lower compression ratio that the LS series engines allowing good results with a supercharger.
