LT1 intake porting & welding
So the ski ramps are actually the depressions in the top of the runner which lead to the injector? If so that's a lot of grinding. I would like to see one of these bad boys finished in preson. Considering your never going to see laminar flow in such a short distance, maybe with a laminar flow element could the air be smoothed out but that's iffy and would kill air flow, I don't see how grinding the intake to a pulp is going to accomplish anything other than aluminum welds that could possibly leak if not done properly. Your best bet is to taper the walls into the plenum so to get a decreasing crossection as you go from the plenum towards the head. this will increase air speed as air approches the valve.

mine is all done, and i have a spare i did for sale. the roof is almost parallel with the floor of the runner. there is a bit of taper, but there is no way of avoiding that.
Taner,
Can you post some pictures or email me directly the pictures of your spare intake you have. I interested in acquiring or performing this mod. So in essence you did everything Jordan did to his and other he's finished. Let me know.....

.......this is his stage2 intake.....so it has no welding done (that is his stage3).........but he does grind down as much of the ski hump as possible, as you can see from the pics, its pretty much a straight shot, very consisten crosssection

its not installed yet, so no numbers, but just visually you can tell its an improvement over the stock intake runner.
After looking at the pics of ones posted above, I think I took mine a little too far on the edges, can someone take a look and let me know if I need a new intake, no biggie my buddy has one that I will probably TIG weld up in class and port it out.
I am gonna give this a try. I just went out to the garage and pulled the intake off my car and I'll get it welded up in the next few days (I don't think my metal shop lessons from 12 years ago are gonna cut it.
) After that I'll go to town by taking yet *another* whack at it with my die grinder. I'll have results for you guys in 3 months when New England finally thaws...
