Lightbulb LT1 intake porting & welding

What all is there to porting the intake ie:just match the intake runners to the head runners (not gasket match)

for the welding part do you just weld behind the injectors and great rid of the ski jump part and that is it? is there nothing more to this.

thx

If you get rid of the ski jump the air has a smooooth shot at the intake valve, nothing in the way

JordanM made 20+rwhp with this. is there anthing more to this?

Other than the fact that welding cast aluminum isnt the easiest metal to weld, no.

ive been told aluminum is very hard to weld on as well so that could be a slight snag if you are a novice welder. im still unclear though as to what youd do in there around the injector.

Yes aluminum is very hard to weld , where the injectors sit behind the holes you fill that area

here are some pic of Jordons car
off the old 401, thought some of you might be interested. the blue plugs are where the fogger nozzles were

dont look like its worth the hassle and looks like crap on the outside. You said it gained 20hp???? Funny I've never heard of it. I sure I just haven't and I believe you. Still if it does make the power I rather find it somewhere else.

i wonder if having all that extra material there affects the spray pattern of the injectors.. it would seem a lot of fuel would hit the ridge and pool/drip down into the runner instead of atomizing like its supposed to. maybe im just being too overly critical.

Usually when they talk about raising the runners, they are talking about the roof on the runner of the heads. But as usual I could be wrong. But I just finished porting and polishing my heads and that what everyone kept refering to when I was doing them.

yeah i talked to lloyd about it... he had some interesting info on it...
"Pretty much any LT1 that you are gonna take past 5500 RPM would benefit. I am not sure how much "better" having the runners welded like done in the pics would be on most cars. "I would expect another $100 in welding and the BIG advantage would be in raising the injector."

To bad he his server is messed up and he cant get on the forums.

Im curious on how much it'd help a LT1 with around 360-390wrhp.. aslo how it would affect the fuel spray and spraying nitrous if one decided too.

our intake is a dry intake (air only) cab intake wet (fuel and air)
So i don,t think it would hurt the spray (nos) if anything it would be a clean shoot at the intake cyl head runner no more turbulent when hitting the ski jump

i don't think you change anything with the injector location still same spot you still ahve to bolt up youre fuel rails in the same spot

-ZDriver96 what did lloyd have to say about the intake and so on

any tip
