Lt1 Injection on pre 86

What needs to be done to retro fit an Lt1 fuel injection system on a pre 86 sbc? (ie. 69 327) Is this possible?

I have all the hardware (injection , harness, computer).

THanks

Very impractical as the PCM needs the Optispark signal.

It's really simple. Use a LT1 intake, cut a hole for the distributor. Then run a 90-92 TPI computer and harness. The chip will need to be tuned. There are a few additional things but that is the bulk of it. Check out this site for additional info http://www.lt1intake.com/ .

He can bolt it on, but without the signals from the Opti (as Rich already pointed out) the stock PCM will not function. It shuts down the fuel injectors when it doesn't get the low resolution pulse signal from the Opti, since it needs that to set the sequential injection firing points.

If you could figure a way to mount the optical sensor on the front of the of the Gen 1 block, or mount it in the distributor housing, or interface with an MSD CPC distibutor stub signal, it would work. But I would't call that "really simple".

At one point Speartech was working on a hybrid opti/HEI, the goal was to allow LT1 guys to run an HEI but it would work for something like this too. Might contact him and see how far the project has gotten.

Yes it is! Like I said, run a TPI harness, dist and a 730 ECM. This stuff is not hard to find or use...

DFI gen 7 does this. I tuned a car with that ECU and it was bad ***!

Go back and read the original question. He has an LT1 harness and PCM. He wants to use the complete LT1 fuel injection system. Yes... you can use a different ECU, etc.... but that's not what he asked.

Once you decide not to use the LT1 harness or PCM, there's no point in using any other parts of the LT1 fuel injection system on a Gen 1 SBC.
