LT1 Hub question

I removed the old hub that was a bit longer and put the stock hub back on. I was wondering does the hub have to go on in a certain way like with piston 1 at tdc and then put the hub on so the marker is straight up? Is this neccesary for proper engine function or is it just to help find tdc? if not put on with tdc marker at top and all that will it effect my motor.
Thanks in advance

Josh

If you're talking about the crankshaft hub that fits onto the crankshaft snout, it doesn't need to go on, because the hub is so close to crank centerline, and it appears to be zero-balanced to begin with. It will help to put it back on the way it came, since the damper mounting bolts are unidirectional, and it can only be fit in one direction (hence the arrow being misaligned). It's your choice.
