Why would you rip off functioning injection and replace it with a carb? if you aren't going to use the injection just go find any old SBC and run that.

The motor is an iron head lt1 with only 58k and it was free. It is going into a little rod that I built and trying to keep simple- If you know of an easy way to wire the FI i am deffenitly open and actually very intrested.
Thanks

If you sell off the top end, rails, injectors, intake harness and computer you should have more than enough to buy the intake dist. and possibly a carb.

Good luck

I swapped a TBI motor into my Jeep about a year ago. I got a complete harness out of a car and a wiring diagram. Then just cut out the stuff you don't need from the harness...headlights etc. So Jeep now has original harness for lights HVAC etc. and a harness for the fi. GM fi systems are very easy to setup and usually only have 12v constant 12v swtched and a few grounds. This page has all the pinouts you will need: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html

The orginal dist will not work If i decide to go carb? Or if I stay FI I do not have the orginal harness- is there an after market one.
What did you use for motor mounts on the cj conversion. I beleive they used mopar eng. correct
Thanks Brian

Google painless wiring
or
check out this ebay aucton: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ECM-1...QQcmdZViewItem

Original distributor won't work without the ECM...so if you go carb you'll need to do somethng else.

Jeep is a wrangler and is using Advance Adapters motor mounts.

Painless is definitely the way to go. The harness is simple, well marked and long enough to hide the ECM almost anywhere. I use the harness on my road race cars I build.

With a little effort, the harness can be made almost invisible, just right for a street rod.

Just supply 12V and a good ground and you are good to go. Extremely simple.

The harness is pricey at $600 for a MAF version, but you would spend that on a carb and intake.

EFI was intimidating at first. But, all the issues that go along with a carb are non-existent. If you plan on doing something like the Power Tour, EFI is the ony way to go.

BTW ... what year model 340?

Happy reading ... use the LT1 complete, or sell it off to someone else. The
reason it makes the HP it does is the fuel injection and optispark, without
these two features, its just another small block with high compression that
you can not run pump gas in. - Tom
