lt1 heads on ebay

I seen lt1 heads on ebay for 750 plus 40 dollars shipping. He said they've been pressure tested, magnafluxed, glassbeaded, milled, 3 angle competition valve job, new guides and seals. They are complete and ready to bolt on. Is this a good deal and will this be work any more hp or is this pretty much stock. Im not to familiar with the lt1 motor. I figured if im taking the heads off to replace the gaskets why not replace the heads.

Not at all worth it. Why not just take your heads to a quality shop and get the same work done.

What is listed will not generate more power...they're just stock heads

It depends on where you are, of course. 2 years ago I had a pair of heads done for $350.

I think magnafluxing is a magnetic process(I know they have a solution that works on aluminum) so are you sure the heads on EBay are aluminum?

Re: lt1 heads on ebay

All lt1s had aluminum heads on them didnt they. Im probably going to just get my heads redone. I cant afford that motor that I want yet. Hopefully in the future I will be able to build a motor with around 400 to 450 hp.

No, they didn't. F bodies and Corvettes got aluminum heads, the rest got cast iron.

You'll need ported heads and a cam to get to 400+ atthe wheels...

Re: lt1 heads on ebay

you cant mag a aluminum head, they are non-ferris meaning they cant be magnetized... they must be iron heads. good to here you didnt get them. the solution BW Hunter is refering to is penetrant testing, there are a lot of other test that can be done too.

Magnaflux has a non-magnetic process for non-ferrous castings.

What I'm getting at is when someone says magnafluxed they usually mean magnetize with a yoke to test the part. Magnaflux is a brand and most people do not know that. That store / guy on eBay does not have that 250k machine to perform quasar. And the quasar does not magnetize either, it's ultrasonics.

I said it was a non-magnetic process. I'm aware of what you are "getting at".... just pointing out that it is possible that the seller was telling the truth. The fact that they are aluminum heads does not mean they can not be "magnafluxed".
