Lt1 heads
Would it be a good ideal to put a new or reworked set of Lt1 heads on a 95 z with 128,000 miles without reworking the bottom end ?
Someone told me that it would cause problems with the rings because of the added compression.

I put a set of heads and a cam in a 95K mile shortblock that had already been cammed for tens of thousands of miles and proceeded to beat on it for awhile till a bearing let go, compression was awesome though, cranked just shy of 230psi even after several thousand miles at 11.2-3 compression.
Not sure what to blame the bearing failure on but put a new spring in the second stock shortblock in hopes that it would better maintain oil pressure and keep this one alive longer, sofar so good.
The info you got is OLD school, modern engines do not wear the rings and bores the way older ones do, I would sooner worry about bearings. Oil pump springs can get weaker with age and heat cycles so a new spring in it is a good idea and fresh bearings if you want, but I would not mess with the rings.

As far as the heads go, I wouldnt think it would hurt, unless they have been milled down and raises compression??????
