lt1 heads
Re: lt1 heads
I dont know how its done but there is a kit you can buy or possibly it's just a special head gasket that you can use to put lt1 heads on an old block, I've heard of a few people doing this with no problems.
Re: lt1 heads
It does not seem like it is too hard. Whats needs to be done is plug up coolant passages on intake side, port out coolant passages on deck side, drill a tap new holes for cross over in back of heads, the intake bolts are in differnt postions so they have to be drilled on the intakem. Thats about it. Plus a little bit of port matching.
To get great flow rates over 300 cfm at .500 lift with heads made for the LT1 cost a lot. The Dart Pro 1 heads flows 318/230 which is much better then anything anyone makes for the lt1 for only 2500 assembled.

Re: lt1 heads
The Vortec heads all the Gen1 SBC guys love are basically a standard coolant flow iron LT1 head and will outflow most of the aluminum LT1 heads, plus there are pretty cheap NEW so it really isn't worth much hassle to modify LT1 heads to fit.
