LT1 Head bolt same as regular SB?

I want to order some ARP head bolts and i was just wondering if the old style heads used the same bolts as the LT1 or is there something different? Where is the cheapest place to buy some 6 or12 point ARPs? Also what are the advantages of using studs instead? Thanks.

LT1 head bolt sets have washers to protect the aluminum heads were as the old style bolts clamp right to the head serface. also later say 96 lt1s have a different tightening procedure called tourqe to yeld.

Um no.

Gen 1 SBC have aluminum heads too. Washers are not special to LT1. Call summit and ask for a set of bolts for a gen1 sbc and and lt1 and they will give you the same thing.

96 LT1s only have a different tightening procedure if you use a set of stock bolts. ARPs will be the same for all years. An lt1 is an lt1 is an lt1.

Regarding studs, you get easier head removal (well not in a 4th gen, but most cars you do) and better more even clamping force on the head.

It's pretty easy to remove 4th gen heads with studs, as long as you remove the studs first.
