LT1 Gas mileage

I'm trying to get an idea what kind of gas mileage these LT1's get, especially with mods so I can make a cost/benifit anaysis against LS1's.

If you could fill out the following and make it bold:

Gas mileage: ** hwy / ** city
Horsepower/Torque: *** rwhp (or crank but specify) *** torque
Gearing: *.**
Transmission: *******
Approx $$ spent on mods: $**** (US dollars please)

Below that not in bold if you want to, and if you could if it's not in your signature what mods you did and any additional comments. Also for $$ spent, if you got it for free or off sponsership add approx what those parts would cost ebay/new.

Thank you, estimations are fine but try not to beef up your ego.

I know but I was also told that LT1 parts are much cheaper, and that its cheaper to HP out of a LT1 then an LS1. That's why I'm trying to find out some numbers and also get money spent on mods so I can try to deduct which would be more financially feasible for the time frame considered.

From the tons of reading that I've done on BOTH cars, I will admit that an LS1 gets better gas mileage and is probably a better car to start off with. Don't get me wrong though, you can find really really cheap LT1s and make them really fast for not much money.

Gas Milage: 22 highway, 14 city
Power ratings....i have no idea, never dynoyed it
Millage- 95768 (runs like it is brand new, i bought it from this lady who never drove it in the city, and drove it like it was a civic)
Gearing: Stock, bought to get 3.73's though
Tranny: M6
Mods: 500 dollars, cat-back, new plugs and wires, K&N filter

I bought mine for 6000 dollars and it has had it's problems. The clutch is about to die and the opti will die soon to. Reliability is an issue, but for bang for the buck, i would go for the LT1. You would prob save about 4000 by buying a 94 over an 98, and that money can be used for some head and cams

1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Mods are Jet-hot LTs, Dynomax Super turbo Muffler, and a pulley on the crank.

Mileage: 79,xxx miles and parked for winter
Gas mileage: 35 hwy (Got that last year on a 800 Mile Trip, cruise set to 70mph revving about 1600rpm in 6th)
/ 15+ city (depends on right foot )
Horsepower: Judging by other peoples mods and some people that I've raced id say 290-300rwhp.
Gearing: stock
Transmission: M6
Approx $$ spent on mods: $2500 <- For the Jet-hot LTs, Y-pipe, 4 Chrome ZR1 with new tires.

I'm 18 years old and by about February I will have enough $$$ for my heads & cam and vented opti conversion . Who says LS1s are better on fuel?

Well here's the thing and why I'm asking this, insurance on my 97' is way to much. But I got a quote for a 94' Z28 camaro and it's less then half what I pay now. But I've come across some high mileage LT's that I could probably swap to LS1 (or 94' V6 to LS1 swap), I've also come across some lower mileage LT1's. So I'm just trying to figure out if the difference in mileage, cost of swap and performance parts which is better for me.

More please, especially modded. I'd like to see what some medium size contenders (350-400 rwhp) guys are getting.

just get a LS6 corvette motor. stock.........those things throw down 350 RWHP.

Making HP outta an LS1 is extremely easy. It takes less mods than a LT1 does and they are way easier to work on.

Not to rag on the LT1......Lt1s can make the same HP.......but if you have a choice from LS1 or LT1.........I'd take an LS1 without thinking.

441/462 at the tires
Stock 3.42 gears
Stock 6 speed with a good clutch
I don't want to think of what I've spent on this car, check the sig for some idea (those aren't the complete story though).

I drive the car every day 50 miles round trip. Currently sitting at 75.5K miles with almost 25k on the supercharger. If you go that route, get the SQ model, mine's about to go back and get turned into one. Only problem I've had has been with the Opti, but who hasn't had problems with that?
