There's only one "Free mod" that works and or makes a difference

TB-Bypass.

There's 2 hoses running along the bottom of your TB flowing coolant through it. You want to reroute them so they do not flow coolant through the Bypass. You can go to pepboys and pick up the hose joiner and the two hose caps to cover the exposed TB tubes. You can do it for $3.00 all together.

Like so

Yeah like he said. The only worthwhile free mod is the TB bypass. But then again removing some weight is a free mod and helps out quite a bit. The easiest is probably spare tire and jack. If you do this make sure you get a can of that fix a flat stuff. Also removing the front sway bar help out. But i'm not sure how much it is needed on a daily driver.

If you do a search for free mods it has been asked many times. You will find more like the Air Temp sensor relocation, homemade ram-air, and stuff like that.

Why does GM have coolant running through the throttle body if the car runs better without?

Why do cars come with paper air filters and engine choking manifolds?

Seriously, though, its to keep the TB from sticking in the icy conditions up north. Or thats how the story goes anyway.

I think we all know TB will never get stuck because of "icey conditions"

Probably the same reason why GM has CAGS, rev limiters, and A4 shift blocks
