lt1 engine swap problems ( fast idle )

Okay I started my 89 s-10 blazer tonight for the first time.. I was amazed on how it started right up... The onlyu problem I seem to be having is that the thing idles damn high like a vaccum leak.. I might suspect a bad egr block off plate gasket.. I was in a jam and used a old one... It seems to run good but fast and the ses light comes one after about 5 seconds.... I also need to add that I do not have the cooling system installed yet so I have only been letting it run for a minute. I would scan you guys a code but I need help locating the correct aldl connector wiring schematics to button up the wiring and to correctly wire the park neutral switch... It is not wired right now... Should this be grounded in park and neutral and could it be causing a problem.... one last thing my knock sensor is not hooked up do to a missing connector on the harness.. Thanks for all and any input.
