LT1 Engine Swap HELP..............
LT1 Engine Swap HELP..............
I have a 95 Camaro and I just had an engine from a 96 installed. It has a problem after it warms up,and you come to an idle sometimes the oil pressure drops and the check qauges light comes on.I was doing some reading and I think the 96 Engine has a lower compression than the 95. I used my ecm. Should I swap in the 96 ecm, would that fix the problem.Any help any one has I would be greatfull........
Re: LT1 Engine Swap HELP..............
The computer won't have anything to do with the oil pressure reading. I would make sure the connection to the sensor is clean and tight and the wire is not pinched anywhere. Replacing the sensor could help as they sometimes act as you describe when they get old. It also could be that your newer engine has low oil pressure, too. Attaching a mechanical gauge for comparison purposes will tell you.
Re: LT1 Engine Swap HELP..............
If it is truely low (not a false low indication), I would replace the pump. Though, it could be that there is a lot of bearing wear causing the low pressure. Low oil pressure is not good for any engine.
