Today me and my friend took apart his 383 stroker, we got everything off except the heads(it got dark). We drained the oil and piece of a pushrod came out. So we took the valve covers off and one of the rockers on the passenger side was like just sitting there loose wasent alighned on the spring. They are self alighning btw. Then i notied the pushrod had cracked near the middle. And the other half of the rod was probobly the metal that came out of the oil. I havent got the heads off but, what can i expect? In the lifter valley there was small chunks of metal like silver rasinets. Not much but enough to be like what the hell. So when i take the heads off tomorrow what should i expect? He was driving the other day and he was doin like 50-60 and all of a sudden he heard a loud crack and white smoke poured out of the exhaust, we never tried to turn the engine over again after that. So could it be locked up, blown, cracked.....what could be the problem here. and what needs to be done to save the motor.

IMO, it will be better assessed after you have it all apart. Not much sense in guessing at this point. Inspect carefully as it is disassembled.
