LT1 dies after 15-20 min

Ive been battling this problem for quite some time now.

car specs.
1997 SS, M6, 96k miles. GM 847 cam, stock heads, upgraded valvetrain. MadZ28 tune OBD1 conversion. Jet hot longtubes.

in 2008 the fuel pump died from what I could tell, replaced it and did a cam swap at the same time. found out I had the waterpump drive deal on wrong and it slowly leaked oil down the front of the engine. pulled the engine out in December and put it back in in feb. replaced the opti as it was full of oil. replaced the plugs with new NGK TR55's, and MSD wires. had the longtubes recoated and did the wire hide mod.

car runs fine and seems alright but after driving less than 10 miles it shuts off. cant pop the clutch to start it back up, im getting 40-42 psi at the fuel rails. I replaced the coil and ICM thinking those were the problem, and still died on me today after a short drive.

turns over but wont start at all. smells like oil really stong after I try with no luck. I have to give it 30 minutes and it will fire back up again.

Not sure what else to look into.

has a new opti, new coil, new plugs, new wires, new ICM, has fuel pressure.. could the PCM be causing an issue? or something I did or forgot to put back together right cause a shut down after a specific time frame?

Im about over this car. I had a strong bond with it for the last 10 years, said id never part with it, but im starting to get over it and love my ZL1 more. It just wouldn't be worth it to me to sell it, would never get what I would be happy with, or I just part out the drivetrain and go LSX with it.

I know you said it was new but I had a similar issue when my race"new" opti went bad. As the car would get warmer it would run worse. Once it got up to running.g temp it would die and not want to start back up till it cooled off. After trying many things and spending quite a hit of money it was the opti afterall. My best guess for this problem was that the water would settle in the opti over time nd as it would warm up it would start turning to vapor and get everything wet again.

Re: LT1 dies after 15-20 min

Had the same problem years ago. Ended up replacing my starter and it fixed my problem. Not sure how that works, but it was my issue. Car had to sit for a while before it would start again. Varied each time. My ignition switch started to go out on another car and acted similar.
