LT1 Camshaft
Who is familiar with Cam Motion..?? Good or bad..Ive gotten screwed over by comp cams three times now and the idiots seem unable to grind me a camshaft.. Ive got a 396 CID LT1 block with scat crank, K.B. Pistons.. (3.75" on a 6.0" Rod .030"over).. None of there camshafts clear the rod..Ive heard Cam Motion does a good job custom grinding LT1 Cams. Can anyone back this up, give me more info or atleast point me in the right direction of a GOOD QUALITY CAM MAKER who will get the specs right the first time?? Thanks in advance!

Re: LT1 Camshaft
I forgot to say that the car has 1.6 RR's, Factory Ported heads, factory ported intake, 58mmTB, and I would like to bring the shifts deep into the 6000 RPM range (6800) (6 speed car) And it will see pretty heavy nitrous use!

Second, what kind of connecting rods are you using? Sounds to me like you need a small base circle cam...

Re: LT1 Camshaft
Comp can grind as small as 0.900" base circle billet cam and that is tiny and it should clear just about anything. What kind of rods are you running? I have the eagle H-beams and running an Erson 1.025" base circle cam.

Re: LT1 Camshaft
Thanks for the replies and Yes sorry guys the stroke is 3.875, I am running H-beam rods and the second cam I tried (according to comp and the part #) was a small base circle cam (1.050) I got off the phone with them today and they are sending me a s.b.c.c. (.900) and Hopefully I will have some luck this time.. I also talked to Cam Motion and they are also sending me a cam with some different specs. If I woulda know a cam would have been this hard to fit I woulda gone with a 383!
