lt1 cam in a vortec engine?

Would a Lt1 cam fit in a roller vortec eng from a '96 p/u? Besides the pin length, would anything need modified or is it a direct fit? Not wondering specifically for a stock LT1 cam, but he wants to upgrade so I figured I would see if I could use one of my other cams.

My buddy seems to have wiped out the cam in his 350 Vortec K2500. He's asking for my stock LT1 cam. I'll let you know how it works, I dont see any problem.

He'll need to cut the guides down a bit, I think max lift on Vortec heads is .460" That's not a lot of wiggle room. Might want some better springs too.

you sure? I think the lifters might be too short and hit the bosses...

better springs are a given. can anyone confirm the heads might need modified for higher lift? Probably looking at something in the .550 lift range witha a duration around 220*

Common cam mod for the vortech trucks & Suv's are the LT4 cam or a factory cam from the Impala/Caprice. Some feel the LT1 f-body cam won't provide enough tq to help move the truck.
