LT1 Cam
LT1 Cam
I have a 1996 Camaro z28 and i am looking to put a bigger cam in it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good cam to get. Right now i am looking at the comp 306 cam. Can anyone tell me some pros and cons to that cam or tell me which cam would be better for my car. I am looking for it to still be driveable on the street but also run good in the 1/8th.
Thank You,

If you're an auto you're going to need a stall, and no matter what you have you're going to want want headers, y-pipe, and a catback, + a CAI. At the very least you will need a mail order tune for the cam, a dyno tune would be the best though.
I have hooker shorties with hooker catback and a cold air intake. I am also looking in to buying a higher stall and a computer chip. After i get my cam i guess i will also get it tuned somewhere. So i was just wondering what a good cam for my car would be.
What kind of goals do you have? Do you want something that is super tame, gives a decent power upgrade, but doesn't sacrifice fuel economy or emissions? Or do you want a cam with a choppy lope, revs to the sky, and offers the best gains?
The LT4 hotcam offers a decent power upgrade, good street manners, and a nice little lope. A couple other shelf cams to consider would be the CC503 or the CC305. Both of those will offer better gains over the Hotcam, but still have really good street manners.
From what I am hearing you are going to be best off putting cam ideas on the back burner for awhile while you do a whole lot of research.
306 cam would be a terrible choice for what you are looking for and what you have done sofar.

Well thats what i am trying to find out. What a good choice would be. Right now i have hooker shorties and a hooker exhaust system, CIA, MSD 6A Ignition, B&M shift kit, March underdrive pullies, and i am getting ready to buy a computer chip, and have my heads ported and polished.
what i'm reading you are probably best off getting ahold of Brett Baeur (StrokerAce) or Lloyd Elliot and they can custom grind one just for you based on what I've read. I have dealt with Lloyd and he is awesome, spend a few extra bucks get the right cam and these guys know their stuff.
