LT1 A/C high/low pressure switch?
LT1 A/C high/low pressure switch?
Does anyone know where exactly the high /low pressure switch for the A/C is? I have a good idea but not sure if it's one of the two. If anyone can possibly send me pictures that would be great. I'm thinking that is causing my A/C compressor to freeze up. - Mike
Re: LT1 A/C high/low pressure switch?
The small line is the high pressure line. I don't think the high pressure switch would have anything to do with freezing problems. Some a/c systems use the low pressure switch to cycle the compressor to prevent freezing. The LT1 has a temperature probe in the evaporator and I have always assumed that is what was used to cycle the compressor but I may be wrong. I had a problem with my 94Z freezing a few years ago and the a/c shop replaced the expansion valve. That fixed the problem but I always wondered if that was the actual problem or if just recharging it would have fixed it. Low refigerant can cause the evaporator to freeze. If you havn't done it yet I would get the charge checked.
how did you get yours fixed? I replaced my a/c lines (due to a leak) expansion valve and dryer, and now I"m having this freezing problem. I started with two cans in.. now I have three.. My guages read 45/250...
