lt1 build help

im building a mild build for my 94 z28. i have a new set of stock replacement rods. a block to have machined. ive found a set of pistons that are new in the box but it says they are 383 pistons. can i use the pistons on a stock crank build? if not if i brought a 383 crank is it possible to use the stock connecting rods? thanks Dustyn

Re: lt1 build help

You need to see what the compression height of the pistons is, and that will tell you if you can use your rods for a 383 build, but the pistons are going to be too short for a 350 build with stock rods and with longer rods compression might still be too low..

this might help you

http://holley.com/data/TechService/T...n%20Height.pdf

page down to where it says Small Block Chevy Compression Height and it has a matrix for rods vs. strokes and gives compression height.
