Lt1 block ?s
Lt1 block ?s
I bought a spare motor from a friend 100 bucks and was looking to make it a 383 stroker. My question is are there any differences between a Impala ss block and a camaro block. I dont know what year it is somewhere between 94-96 it doesnt have the opti on it so i can tell if it is vented or not. Just want to know if the blocks are the same cause i will use my oil pan, timing cover, and heads from my 95 z. Motor only has 65,000 miles. Thanks for the help.
You can determine the year of the block from the VIN derivitive on the back of the block. They are all the same, except for the previoulsy mentioned 4-bolt configuration on the Corvettes - which is preferred. The 350 blocks all have "327" (last 3 digits of the casting #) cast into them in several locations. The L99 block does not.

Just to make it a little clearer. There is only ONE LT1/LT4 block casting.
By the time 4-bolt is necessary you need aftermarket caps so I would not worry about finding a factory 4-bolt.
The 4.3L L99 ONLY came in Caprice sedans as the base engine.
