LT1 alternator questions...

First off, what is the stock amp rating on a 97 alternator? Secondly.... has anyone messed with using a smaller sized alternator to fit tall valvecovers? I've got about - half inch of interference right now.... I was wandering if maybe the corvette accessory brackets would fit the F Body's? Because they mount everything low right? Just not sure if it would fit the k member... So if anybody know's anything about that, that would be great as well...

Thanks
Chuck

So could I run something like a 120 amp and be fine? What's the reason behind the 140 amp compared to the 108?

Thanks

So all of our normal LT1 Z28's have 108 amp alternators?

Thanks

No most LT1's I have seen are 140 amp.
CS130 is 105 amp and came on the V6's
CS144 is 124 or 140 amp and came on the LT1's, and share the same housing.
The 124 amp has a metal fan and a bolt attaches the red BAT pos cable.
The 140 amp has a plastic fan and uses a nut on a stud to attach the red BAT pos cable.

Oh ok... yeah, mine is a 140 amp version. I think Powermaster will probably have one that works. I emailed them last night. We'll see what they say.

Thanks
Chuck
