LT1 is acting like its carborated

For some reason my LT1 is acting like its carborated. By this i mean it takes at least three trys to start. I have to keep the throttle down to even get it to crank. It also bogs down and doesnt run right until it gets past 160 degrees. Once its driving it feels perfectly normal though. I ran a 50 shot on it for 2 weekends but im not sure how much that would do. So far i have three different theories. Either my injectors are clogged, my opti is done, or my fuel pump is. Any suggestions are welcomed. thanks

Re: LT1 is acting like its carborated

I appologize for my post and starting this controversy. I wouldn't consider myself a noob, but apparently some do. I was just offended as I am a firm believer in simple mechanical systems, that when they fail, you can see it. I think alot of things in the world today are way more complicated than they have to be because of computers and "technology". I also think that it has its place to an extent. I am extremely sorry for letting my views get the best of me previously and that is why I made the changes to this post. Good luck with your car, and to me, hard starting would make me look at the fuel system, ignition system or charging system. If it cranks fine, then the charging system is probaly not the problem. Also, was this an immediate problem? Did it just start doing this, or has it always done this? That will point you to another direction really.

Again, sorry for the post made earlier,

Ryan

Check the plugs then report back on their condition.

And don't listen to the stupid noobie that posted in this thread.

The "stupid noobie" has a good point - use a thread title that describes your problem rather than one that shows your ignorance.

In this case "hard starting" might be a good choice for a thread title.

Oh, here comes stupid newbie #2. Generally this is how many carburetors act(whether right or not), I was able to look at the title and before even opening it had a decent idea of what the problem symptoms were.

What's up with all the butthurt carb nutswingers tonight

Ok, kid, tell us about all the carbed cars you've owned and worked on in your long years of experience.

Re: LT1 is acting like its carborated

yes... a lot of carbed vehicles tend to act like this.... but i have a couple frineds vehicles that start far far better than my T/A and they are carbed...

but back on topic. check plugs is my sugestion...

but my car runs likea top.. but it dont start with a ****... my first thought when you said you have to put the pedal to the floor to get it to start is that it is starting because you are putting the car into limp mode... but im not all that well versed... so dont listen to what i have to say (im serious.. lol)

It all depends on what carb your running. Choke or no choke. How long has it been sitting? Who really cares?

My car was doing the exact same thing when I first got it. I did a tune up and a new Opti. Problem solved. I did the Opti only because it had 120,000 on the clock and I was doing an ewp. Try it, like as stated above it could be from that N2O you ran through it. What plugs are you using?

Oh, and my birthday is Dec 9th, 1976, since were posting up birthdays.

My '85 carb'd 305 started up every damn time. There's nothing wrong with carbs at all, they're cheap, make effective power throughout an RPM band and are extremely easy to tune.

If you want to contribute to the original question, feel free to do so. If you want to turn it into a discussion of carbs, find another thread. If the way the topic was posted offends you, ignore it. No need to call anyone a stupid noobie.

This thread is about to be locked.

If you want to play games with "quotes"..... don't conveniently leave out the parts that I was talking about.

Back to the problem at hand. Judging from your description it is the coolant temp. sensor. Just replace it, it's cheap enough.
