This may or may not help. After i did my cam swap a couple of weeks ago i accidentally hooked up the hose that goes to the throttle body to the area where the over flow tank hose goes which is the upper most hose on the radiator right by the cap. When i had these two switched the coolant would puke out like it was over heating. maybe you have the same thing going on.

I had that problem with my car on vacation one time. I ran the AC to keep the fans going and then change the radiator cap, which fixed everything. It sucks how something so cheap and simple can cause such big problems. Try it out it worked for me it might be your problem too.... Just an idea

Make sure nothing is in between the rad and AC condensor I have seen plastic bags get sucked in there.

I'll have a look out for those items, calling NAPA for a new rad cap today as well.

(and home hardware for rhino ramps!)

Is it possible air pump/egr is not working properly or a hose is kinked or something causing me to run lean every now and then?

Fan fuse fine like I knwe it would be, checked the oil to see if I caused any headgasket damage and the oil was nice and clean.

Rhino ramps here this week and up she goes.

I think I'll take my fan assembly out and check those, even though they're not the cause of the overheating.

The take a good look at the radiator.

Low and behold, last night i forgot to turn my heat on low (which keeps one fan going all the time) and i looked down at my temp gauge and it was right at 3/4. As soon as i park it, it starts spewing green, once again. I'm starting to think this may not be an easy fix. Could a clogged coolant passgae in the block cause something like this to happen?

I had the same problem, coolant erupted from the res. tube all over the battery while driving. Had the system pressure tested, checked good, thank goodness, not a bad head gasket (I can hold coolant either). I can not find any leaks or smells or smoke or water anywhere. The mech thinks it going out the cap, so he pressure tested my stock cap "9psi" on a 18psi cap! Had a replacement cap from Pepboys, that I bought awhile ago tested 12psi for a 16psi cap. So I got the part number for a GM cap, lists for 9$ about 2$ more than the crap I bought from Pepboys. So, pressure test your cap.

I read your sig. and it said csi pump...
How is it wired? do you have it wired with the LEDs?
My car did the same thing on the highway twice on two
different water pumps. Basically the seal in the CSI pump goes
bad and fills the electric motor housing up, causing a short and
a very quick overheat

Brand new Hypertech been in the car not a month.

Correct part number (1008 I think, I checked it against shoebox's website)

This is my second one since I thought the last one was faulty....and it wasn't.

I use a relay etc for my CSI, followed a schematic from this page....but I do not have an LED. Can you quickly tell me how to add it?

Thanks,

lbrowne

LOOK AT THIS

is it possible the wrong gauge wire caused this????

Where it melted together some of the strands kept in contact by the melted plastic, thus keeping my waterpump going.

I followed a wiring diagram on this board, and my waterpump comes on with the accessories, and you hear it shut off after.

I think I'm going to get a heavier guage wire....

Please someone have a look.....I'm uploading a picture very soon.

EDIT: my webserver is down and I can't upload the pic... grrrrrrrrrr

link:

burnt

The red power one is the one that burnt, but maybe the wire is too thin. its thinner than the wire coming from the CSI waterpump (whose wires are built in)

Should I run a thicker red power wire???

EDIT: this is most likely the coolant spilled out is cuz the waterpump wasn't working and I guess the t-stat was closed maybe...not sure on that.
