LT1 4-bbl intake, HEI distrubutor

Has any on tried this intake, I want to get rid of the opti and this seems to be the way to do it. GM #24502592, still use the computer for transmission.

i was thinking the same thing, getting rid of the opti and going carb. i have a whole 350 2 piece rear main engine at my shop i'm going to build into a 383 and such and just put that in though. i'm tired of computer problems

That's pretty neat, but it's a dual plane manifold and still might need a bunch of hood clearance for your carb and air filter, so take some measurements before you go into it. make sure it won't be into the cowl unless you want to be messing with that, too.

That intake also requires you to machine a hole for the distributor. Search the web...someone has done and uffers the service if my memory serves me.

I'd also do a lot of searching to see if the computer will still be able to control the tranny without the engine controls. Doesn't it look for a whole plethora of inputs to decide when to shift? I'm sure you can get an aftermarket transmission controller to run it if the stock PCM won't....

The GMPP manifold has the distributor hole already.
